2017 bLU cRU Ride to Snowy Ride Adventure

Every year The Snowy Ride at Thredbo is one of the biggest motorcycle charity events on the calendar, raising funds to support the Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation.

Drawing thousands of motorcycle riders from all around the country on a pilgrimage to the NSW ski fields, The Snowy Ride brings together licensed riders of all ages aboard registered bikes of all brands.

For the past eight years a posse of adventure bike riders have taken aim on the event staged in the memory of NSW junior enduro racer Steven Walter, by following an ADV route from just south of Sydney to the Snowy Mountains mapped out by Andrew Clubb and Clive Ward from the Ténéré Tragics.

Known as the Ride to The Snowy Ride, this ADV-riding good time is on again for 2017 with the support of Yamaha’s bLU cRU, and will see Clubby and Clive plot out a two-day course to the Snowy Mountains that takes in some of the best back roads and fire trails the NSW southern highlands have to offer.

The 2017 bLU cRU Ride to The Snowy Ride is being held on Thursday and Friday, November 2 and 3, starting from Yamaha dealership Bowral Motorcycles just south of Sydney and aiming for an overnight stop at Tumut, where riders can join Clubby and Clive for a bLU cRU Bench Race session being held over dinner and drinks.

On day two the route continues up and over the Brindabella Ranges to Cooma and Berridale, then riders continue to their accommodation at Jindabyne or Thredbo. Those riders staying in Thredbo can join in on another post-ride bLU cRU Bench Race session on Friday evening.

The 2017 bLU cRU Ride to The Snowy Ride is open to ADV riders on all brands of bikes, with no charge to join in. However participants must register and place the official event sticker on the screen of their machine for The Snowy Ride event being staged in Thredbo on Saturday, November 4, by going to the www.snowyride.org.au web site.

Riders will need 300km fuel range and off-road biased dual-purpose tyres are recommended. Riders must be self-sufficient with tools and spares, however Clubby and Clive will ride with the pack aboard their MotorcycleBiz prepared XT660Z Ténéré and XT1200Z Super Ténéré to offer support where needed.

About Us

Dave purchased Lithgow Bike Stop in June 1992 and two years later Jamie joined the business and completed his motorcycle mechanical apprenticeship. In 1998 Dave and Jamie formed the partnership that exists to this day.

The brothers have always shared a love of motorcycling and have competed at various levels. Lithgow Bike Stop has also supported numerous local riders, assisting with the building and servicing of many winning teams. The respect for both brothers is widely known within the industry and both have assisted Yamaha Australia and Kawasaki Motors with technical advice.
